“Lottery Winner Keeps £15M Jackpot Secret from Son”

Date:

A man who used to work in a factory and won a £15 million lottery jackpot has shared that he has kept this significant windfall a secret from his own son. Alain, now living as a wealthy retiree, has invested in a villa and five luxury cars following his win, but has chosen not to inform his 30-year-old son about his newfound wealth.

Alain, from France, found out about his jackpot while in the process of moving houses, having played the Loto for over a decade using his family’s birthdates as his lucky numbers. Despite the life-changing amount appearing on his screen, he remained calm and focused on his house move, deciding to wait until the next day to see how things unfolded.

After confirming his win, Alain left his job in the car industry and bought his dream home – a renovated villa with a pool. He also indulged in purchasing five cars, including a Porsche and an Aston Martin, along with acquiring “two or three” watches. The Manchester Evening News reported on his lavish spending.

The millionaire has since invested parts of his winnings and now earns ten times more than his previous factory salary. While Alain shared the news with his sister, he intentionally chose not to disclose the windfall to his son to ensure the young man continues working and remains unaware of the true value of money.

In his statement to FDJ, Alain expressed his desire for his son to keep working and not be influenced by sudden wealth. Despite this, he has treated his son to luxurious vacations after winning the lottery. Alain’s decision to keep his win a secret from loved ones is not uncommon among lottery winners.

Another individual who reportedly won £7.6 million in the United States also opted to keep his winnings confidential from his family, fearing they would spend it recklessly. Speaking on the Bobby Bones Show, he revealed that he set up accounts for his children and grandchildren to ensure their financial security without revealing his identity.

In a similar situation back in 2019, a lottery winner in Jamaica wore a mask from the movie Scream to conceal his identity while claiming a prize of nearly £1 million. He mentioned to local media his intention to use the money to buy a house.
