British darts player Luke Littler provided an update following his absence from the penultimate Players Championship event of 2025. The 18-year-old was set to compete in PC33 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan but announced on Instagram at 11:06 am that he couldn’t make it due to traffic delays. Consequently, he missed the registration deadline and had to withdraw from both PC33 and PC34.
Later in the day, Littler shared that he had opted to dine at a Chinese restaurant while his competitors, including Luke Humphries, were competing. He later explained that his lateness was due to road congestion caused by a tragic incident on the M6 in Wigan, where a man lost his life.
Emergency services responded to the incident on the motorway, with Greater Manchester Police confirming the fatality and ongoing investigations. Despite missing the opportunity to participate in the recent events, Littler secured a spot in the upcoming Players Championship finals in Minehead, following his victory at PC32 where he silenced doubters and secured a £15,000 prize.
His success at PC32 came shortly after claiming the World Grand Prix title and falling short at the European Championship in Dortmund. Littler’s recent achievements have solidified his position in the darts world, ensuring his presence at the £600,000 Players Championship finals next month.
