Part of the M1 motorway has been shut down following an accident where a car crashed into a barrier and flipped onto its side. The closure, located in South Yorkshire, spans from Junction 30 for Balborough to Junction 31 for Aston.

Emergency services rushed to the site after the crash occurred around 5:30 am. Police, fire, and ambulance personnel are presently present at the scene.

Alternate routes have been established to guide motorists around the closed section.

The M1 northbound lanes between Junction 30 and Junction 31 have been reopened subsequent to the accident. However, National Highways cautioned commuters to anticipate additional travel time as any remaining delays dissipate.

Despite the reopening of some lanes, the northbound stretch between Junction 30 and Junction 31 remains sealed off as recovery and road cleaning activities are ongoing. National Highways assured that no major delays have been reported in the vicinity.

According to National Highways, a section of the M1 was cordoned off due to an earlier collision. The closure, between Junction 30 (Barlborough) and Junction 31 (Aston), resulted from a vehicle hitting the barrier on the roadside.

National Highways stated, “The M1 in South Yorkshire is closed northbound between J30 (Barlborough) and J31 (Aston) due to a collision that was reported at approximately 05:30 this morning. South Yorkshire Police, Fire, Ambulance Services, and National Highways Traffic Officers are currently managing the situation.”
