“Major Telecom Providers Implement Price Hikes for Customers”

Date:

Hyperoptic, a leading broadband provider, has disclosed an upcoming price hike of £4 per month for its customers starting in April 2026, marking an increase from the previous £3 rise. This adjustment will impact both new and existing customers across all Hyperoptic broadband plans. Despite their previous stance against mid-contract price increases, Hyperoptic now joins other major telecom companies in implementing larger price adjustments in recent times.

In contrast to their previous commitment, Hyperoptic’s policy director, James Fredrikson, had stated in 2023 that mid-contract price rises were not their practice. However, the current scenario reflects a shift in this approach.

Sky Mobile has also announced an increase of £1.50 per month for the majority of its customers, effective from February 14, 2026, which marks the first price alteration for in-contract customers in over seven years. Similarly, O2 has notified its mobile and SIM-only contract customers of a £2.50 monthly bill increase from April 2026, up from the initially planned rise of £1.80 per month.

Additionally, Three mobile customers opting for data plans of 4GB or less will experience a £1.80 monthly price hike from April 2026, an increase of 80p compared to the current rise of £1. Customers with varying data plans will face different increases, with those exceeding 100GB seeing a £2.30 rise per month.

Furthermore, Three broadband subscribers will encounter a £3.50 monthly increase, while Vodafone mobile customers signing up after November 12 will witness a £2.50 rise in their monthly bills, or £1.50 for Basics SIM plans. Vodafone broadband users are also set to experience a £3.50 monthly price surge.

Consumers who are not under contract may find themselves overpaying for their mobile and broadband services. To save money, individuals are encouraged to compare prices online, assess their current usage needs, and consider switching providers or negotiating better deals with their existing service providers. Eligible individuals receiving benefits should also explore potential discounts through social tariffs.

This wave of price adjustments in the telecom sector highlights the importance for consumers to stay informed and proactive in managing their expenses and seeking cost-effective solutions.
