Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man’s death on a boat in the heart of a major city. The incident occurred at Lady Julian Bridge in Norwich, Norfolk, on Sunday afternoon, where emergency responders discovered the body of a man in his 60s. Despite efforts by multiple agencies, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting a probe into the unexplained death.
A statement from Norfolk Police revealed that the coastguard, Norfolk Fire and Rescue, and ambulances were all called to the scene following reports of the discovery. The deceased individual, identified as Karl Kesper locally, was found unresponsive on his boat, the Ringpull, after reportedly battling health issues.
Kesper, a Canadian believed to have lived aboard his vessel for several years, was described by the boating community as a somewhat solitary but content individual. A local member of the community mentioned that Kesper had been unwell for some time and lived independently on his boat.
Neighbors recounted that friends had visited Kesper on the day of the incident and discovered him in distress. While the exact cause of death remains unknown, police have stated that there are no suspicions of foul play, with suggestions that Kesper may have experienced a medical emergency on the day of his passing.
