An individual has been taken into custody for allegedly orchestrating the killing of a young mother in order to gain custody of her daughter.
Gabrielle Cristine Pinheiro Rosário, aged 21, surrendered herself at a police station on Monday, approximately two weeks following the fatal shooting of Laís de Oliveira Gomes Pereira as she was walking with her youngest child in a stroller.
Authorities in Sepetiba, Rio de Janeiro, promptly conducted an investigation and determined that the motive behind the murder was a custody dispute over the victim’s four-year-old daughter. Allegedly, Rosário, aged 25, had engaged two individuals to carry out the shooting on a city street on Tuesday, November 4.
Following the arrest of the woman, a police representative stated, “Her legal representatives contacted us this morning, expressing her intention to surrender. The case is now closed. There is clear evidence that she commissioned the crime, as supported by the testimonies, cell phone data, and we will seek pretrial detention.”
However, Rosário’s legal counsel informed the press that she is unfamiliar with the two men detained in connection to the shooting of Ms. Pereira. It is believed that they were paid 20,000 Brazilian Real (approximately £3,000) for their alleged involvement.
Law enforcement suspects that Rosário exhibited “obsessive” conduct towards the child. Reports indicate that officers uncovered text messages hinting at this behavior, linking Rosário to the two individuals, and her knowledge of Ms. Pereira’s whereabouts leading up to her demise. It is understood that one of the men was identified by his own mother. Ms. Pereira leaves behind two children, including a 20-month-old son. Tributes portray her as a caring and dedicated parent.
This incident follows the conviction of an adult film performer who fatally attacked her former spouse after marrying her STEPSON. Devyn Michaels, aged 47, faces the possibility of life imprisonment for the murder of Johnathan Willette, aged 46, whose decapitated body was discovered soaked in chemicals at his residence.
Willette’s body was found “wrapped in blankets and bloody” by his distressed mother, according to law enforcement records. Prosecutors alleged that the Las Vegas porn star executed her sinister scheme out of jealousy towards Willette, who had secured sole custody of their two children.
During Michaels’ trial, prosecutor John Giordani cautioned jurors to brace themselves for a dramatic account as he presented crime scene images, including one of the victim’s body. Michaels reportedly confessed to striking Willette with an object resembling a candlestick while giving him a massage in his bedroom, as per court-released footage, as reported by the New York Post. She informed detectives during the interrogation, “He didn’t say anything. He stopped moving.”
