“New Gordie Howe Bridge Sees High Traffic Volume”

Statistics Canada has reported that a significant number of drivers crossed the Gordie Howe International Bridge into Canada shortly after its recent opening. The highly anticipated bridge, which links Windsor and Detroit, commenced operation on July 27 following several weeks of delays. According to preliminary data from StatCan, there were approximately 18,900 return trips by Canadian residents from the United States via the Gordie Howe bridge within the initial five days of its opening. Concurrently, around 18,100 U.S. residents entered Canada by crossing the same bridge during that time frame. In comparison, the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, two other border crossings in the region, witnessed a total of 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadians and U.S. residents over the same period. Additionally, in the last five days of July, 4,100 commercial transport trucks made their way into Canada using the Gordie Howe bridge.
