“NY Mayor Mamdani meets with Trump, labels him ‘fascist'”

Date:

Donald Trump faced being called a fascist by the newly elected Mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, who openly expressed his intention to meet with Trump at the White House. The two held a private meeting but later engaged with the media in the Oval Office, responding to questions in a friendly manner. This encounter contrasted sharply with the contentious relationship Trump had with Volodymyr Zelensky in February, showing a more amicable tone.

Mamdani, known for his previous remarks labeling Trump as a “despot” and a “fascist,” was playfully dismissed by Trump who shrugged off the comments, saying he had been called worse. When asked directly if he considered Trump a fascist, Mamdani initially diverted the question, but Trump interjected, encouraging him to speak his mind, to which Mamdani eventually agreed.

During the interaction, Trump surprisingly praised Mamdani, a departure from his previous criticisms where he had referred to Mamdani as a “communist” and a potential disaster for New York City. Despite past animosity, Trump acknowledged shared interests with Mamdani regarding housing development and improving living conditions in New York.

Mamdani, in turn, emphasized key topics in his statements, such as housing construction and affordability, aligning with Trump’s background in real estate. He also highlighted his outreach to voters who had previously supported Trump, seeking their backing in the recent mayoral election.
