O2, the popular UK mobile network now under Virgin Media, is spreading holiday joy by offering its customers an extra 10GB of mobile data for free this December. This bonus data boost, automatically added to eligible users’ accounts, can be used for various activities like movie streaming, photo sharing, and video calls on platforms such as FaceTime.
The free 10GB data comes with no usage restrictions, making it versatile for different purposes. This offer is available to all Pay Monthly customers, except those already on Unlimited plans or business tariffs. Customers on standard monthly plans without unlimited data will receive the festive freebie soon.
Christian Hindennach, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Media O2, highlighted the importance of staying connected with loved ones during the holiday season and emphasized that the 10GB data boost allows customers to enjoy streaming content, gaming, and video calls with friends and family.
According to O2, the additional data could provide approximately 20 hours of video calls, 2,000 streamed songs, or about four and a half hours of HD content on platforms like Netflix or Disney+.
This initiative from O2 follows the recent Connected Nations report by Ofcom, revealing a 10% increase in mobile data consumption by UK smartphone users in 2025 compared to 2024, reaching a staggering 1.2 billion GB per month.
In essence, this gesture from O2 aims to enhance the connectivity experience for its customers during the festive season, showing appreciation for their loyalty.
