The Prince and Princess of Wales have emerged victorious in a legal dispute by taking legal action against a French magazine for an article and intrusive paparazzi images. Paris Match published photographs of William and Kate with their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – during a holiday in the Alps in April.
Following the lawsuit, the magazine has been mandated to admit the breach of privacy in its publication and cover the legal expenses of William and Kate in France. While compensation was initially pursued, the royal couple opted for the publication of a “judicial notice.” A French court has directed Paris Match to issue the notice acknowledging the privacy violation, with a penalty of €10,000 per edition until compliance.
A spokesperson from Kensington Palace stated, “Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales have achieved a favorable outcome in legal proceedings against the publisher of Paris Match for releasing an invasive article and paparazzi photos of their private family vacation in the Alps.”
“The court’s decision reinforces that, despite their public roles as members of the Royal Family, Their Royal Highnesses and their children deserve privacy and family time free from unlawful interference. The Prince and Princess of Wales are dedicated to safeguarding their family’s private moments and ensuring their children can grow up without unwarranted scrutiny and disturbance. They remain resolute in protecting these boundaries.”
