Prince Andrew is set to lose all his Royal titles and honors, including the title of ‘prince’, as announced by King Charles. Buckingham Palace disclosed that Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and will have to vacate the 30-room Royal Lodge, which he previously shared with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. Earlier this month, Prince Andrew relinquished the use of his other titles, such as the Duke of York, amid increasing scrutiny regarding his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, allegations that Prince Andrew vehemently refutes.
In a significant development, Buckingham Palace stated, “His Majesty has taken steps today to formally revoke the Style, Titles, and Honors of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew will now go by the name Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His tenancy at Royal Lodge, which had permitted him to stay there legally, has been terminated. Despite his denial of the allegations against him, these actions are deemed necessary.”
The statement continued, “Their Majesties want to emphasize that their thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victims and survivors of all forms of abuse.”
Reportedly, Prince Andrew is expected to relocate from his Windsor residence to a property within the private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, privately funded by King Charles. Prince Andrew did not oppose the decision made by the King and received support from Prince William in making personal choices.
The transition is anticipated to occur promptly, with Prince Andrew receiving appropriate private support from the King. Other financial matters will be left to the former duke.
Notably, Prince Andrew’s daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, will retain their royal titles due to their lineage. Meanwhile, discussions between Prince Andrew and the King’s representatives had begun regarding his voluntary departure from Royal Lodge, following concerns regarding the nominal rent he paid for the mansion over the past two decades.

Prior to the official announcement, members of Parliament had raised questions regarding the rental arrangement for the Royal Lodge. The Public Accounts Committee had requested an update on the lease status and rationale for the lavish property, citing public interest in the use of public funds concerning Prince Andrew, especially in light of the serious allegations against him.
