“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Face High Staff Turnover”

Date:

In a matter of days, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle faced the departure of two key aides: Meredith Maines, the chief communications officer, and James Holt, the head of their organization, Archewell.

Holt previously served as the couple’s PR boss before transitioning to work closely with the Sussexes on their charitable endeavors after they stepped back from royal duties. Meanwhile, Maines resigned after a brief 10-month tenure with Harry and Meghan, marking the eleventh publicist to depart from their team in five years.

Following Holt’s resignation, reports indicated his desire to spend more time in London with his family while expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work with the Duke and Duchess. Maines also announced her departure, citing a new opportunity in 2026 after a year of collaboration with the Sussexes and Archewell.

The turnover of communication staff continued with past departures, including Emily Robinson, Ashley Hansen, Charlie Gipson, and Kyle Boulia. Questions arose regarding the high turnover rate within the Sussex camp, with some attributing it to the challenging nature of working closely with Harry and Meghan.

Speculation about the working environment within the Sussex team surfaced, with reports suggesting past staff sought therapy and described the workplace as toxic and draining. Despite these claims, the Sussexes denied any allegations of bullying.

The couple’s unclear messaging to the public, oscillating between privacy and publicity, has also been a point of contention. Their varied ventures, from Netflix programs to charity work and mingling with Hollywood figures, have left observers questioning their direction.

As the Sussexes search for a new PR representative, Liam Maguire, the couple’s UK and Europe communications director, is set to oversee publicity efforts. With their plans for 2026 uncertain, the couple faces challenges in solidifying their public image and strategic direction.

Overall, the continuous changes within the Sussex team reflect ongoing uncertainties and complexities surrounding Harry and Meghan’s public presence and future endeavors.
