Vladimir Putin has issued strong warnings to Western nations while unveiling his newly tested “unstoppable” nuclear missile called the “Flying Chernobyl.” The Russian leader proudly declared his country now possesses the most advanced nuclear capabilities globally. In a concerning announcement about a potential World War Three scenario, he disclosed the successful secret test flight of the Burevestnik doomsday missile on October 21, emphasizing its “unlimited range.”
During a visit to a military command center, Putin discussed the nuclear-powered missile with Russia’s top general, Valery Gerasimov, aged 70, who briefed him on the situation at the Ukrainian frontline. Simultaneously, Russian forces conducted a brutal overnight assault on Kyiv, targeting residential buildings and resulting in three fatalities and nearly 30 injuries, including seven children.
Emphasizing recent nuclear war exercises and disregarding calls for peace from former U.S. President Donald Trump, Putin highlighted the advanced capabilities of Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces. He underscored the significance of the Burevestnik missile’s test, designed to operate continuously for extended durations and outmaneuver existing Western defense systems.
Gerasimov confirmed the successful test flight of the Burevestnik, also known as the “Flying Chernobyl,” on October 21, covering a distance of 14,000 kilometers without limitations due to its nuclear propulsion system. He praised the missile’s precision and evasion capabilities against heavily fortified targets, demonstrating its effectiveness against air and missile defenses.
The missile’s continuous flight for 15 hours, surpassing previous test durations, showcased its technological advancements. Putin, acknowledging that the Burevestnik is not yet ready for combat deployment, aimed to intimidate Western nations while affirming Russia’s ongoing military actions in Ukraine without specifying an end date to the conflict.
As fires engulfed Kyiv’s high-rise buildings following the Russian attacks, rescue operations were underway to assist residents affected by the strikes. Meanwhile, Putin’s envoy in the U.S., Kiril Dmitriev, attempted to shift blame to Ukrainian air defenses for civilian casualties caused by Russian drone strikes in Kyiv, a claim refuted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky condemned the relentless attacks by Russia, describing them as deliberate strikes on civilian life and infrastructure, resulting in significant harm to innocent residents. He highlighted the extensive use of drones, guided bombs, and missiles by Russia in targeting Ukraine, causing widespread devastation and loss of life.
