“Sky Unveils Game-Changing F1 TV Upgrade”

Date:

The F1 season has kicked off with George Russell securing a win in Melbourne. Fans are in for a treat as the calendar will span the globe in 2026, promising an exciting year of racing. Sky has announced an upcoming TV upgrade, introducing new features to enhance the viewing experience for sports enthusiasts.

The impending update will bring forth a fresh interactive dimension for viewers. Sky will unveil a smart sidebar during race weekends, offering tools like Race Control and Recap for quick replays of thrilling overtakes and pivotal moments. Moreover, viewers can easily access live in-race standings.

In addition to increased interactivity, the update will unveil specialized driver and team pages, granting fans access to onboard cameras, enhanced race data, explanations, and improved navigation on the homepage.

Wondering how to get these new features? Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices will have complimentary access to the updates once they launch. While an exact release date has not been confirmed, the upgrade is expected to roll out later in the season, with existing Sky Sports subscribers receiving the enhancements at no extra cost.

Formula 1 enthusiasts can catch every practice, qualifier, and race live by subscribing to Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle. This exclusive deal not only saves £336 but also includes around 100 TV channels and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.

Sky, in an email to Express.co.uk, stated, “New for 2026, fans can anticipate more flexibility and choice with a new immersive sidebar for TV viewing during race weekends.” The F1 upgrade is not the only change from Sky, as the company has introduced an Ultimate TV subscription plan bundling major streaming services at a reduced monthly rate of £24.

Included in the £24 Ultimate TV plan are Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads, HBO Max Basic with Ads launching on March 26, Hayu with selected shows available from March, and over 130 Sky channels. Sky emphasizes the value of the bundle, consolidating approximately £20 worth of streaming services in one comprehensive package.
