“Teva Canada Recalls Teva-Pregabalin Capsules Over Contamination Concern”

Date:

Teva Canada has initiated a recall of specific batches of Teva-Pregabalin 150 mg capsules due to potential contamination with sertraline, as detected during regular testing. The affected lots are numbered 100070495 and 100068913, with an initial distribution in Canada starting in September 2025 and an expiry date of July 31, 2027.

Individuals with hypersensitivity or allergies to sertraline are cautioned about possible adverse reactions, including severe allergic responses like anaphylaxis, even with minimal exposure, as highlighted in a recall advisory by Health Canada. Anaphylactic reactions have the potential to be life-threatening.

Health Canada recommends that consumers in possession of products from the mentioned lots should promptly return them to a pharmacy. Pregabalin, designed to alleviate nerve-related pain, and sertraline, utilized for managing depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and panic disorders, are both prescription medications.

Teva Canada, headquartered in Toronto, emphasized in its recall announcement that this action is a precautionary step to ensure consumer safety.
