The World Airline Awards recently announced the top performers among the Best Airlines in Europe, with notable exclusions of major budget carriers like Ryanair and easyJet from the top rankings. Skytrax, a platform for passenger reviews, compiled the list based on customer feedback covering various aspects such as staff behavior, cabin cleanliness, seat comfort, and website quality.
Leading the pack is Turkish Airlines, the national carrier of Turkey, offering multiple routes from the UK to Turkish cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya from key bases in London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, and Edinburgh. Skytrax awarded Turkish Airlines a four-star rating, commending its customer experience, especially on short-haul journeys compared to other European legacy airlines and even outperforming some Middle Eastern competitors.
Air France also secured a spot on the list, operating from major UK airports like London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Birmingham with services to Paris and other prominent destinations. British Airways claimed the fourth position, while Virgin Atlantic followed closely in sixth place, serving passengers traveling to distant locations such as the USA, Canada, Korea, and India.
In a recent study on airlines’ legroom, surprising results were unveiled. Aer Lingus topped the list with 31-32 inches of space, followed by British Airways with 29-31 inches. Contrary to expectations, easyJet ranked third with 29 inches, proving that budget airlines can offer comparable legroom to premium carriers. Conversely, Wizz Air ranked at the bottom with a seat pitch of 28 inches, indicating minimal difference in economy class legroom between the best and worst performers.
