Mother Pleads Guilty to Starving Daughter to Death

Date:

A mother has admitted to neglecting and starving her daughter to the point where the girl became emaciated and skeletal before passing away. The tragic discovery was made by authorities during a welfare check at the family’s residence in Morrisvale, West Virginia. The 14-year-old victim, Kyneddi Miller, had been kept in a severely neglected state by her mother, Julie A Miller, resulting in her untimely death.

Julie Miller had withdrawn Kyneddi from school due to concerns about the Covid-19 pandemic, with the intention of homeschooling her to protect elderly family members. However, instead of providing proper care, Miller subjected her daughter to abuse. In court, Julie Miller pleaded guilty to the charge of causing the death of a child through neglect. She faces a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years and will be required to register on the Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.

Additional family members, Donna Stone and Jerry Stone, also faced charges related to the child’s death. Donna Stone confirmed that Kyneddi had been taken out of school during the pandemic for fear of spreading the virus to vulnerable relatives. Investigations revealed that Kyneddi had limited outside contact and had not received medical attention or proper nourishment during the period she was purportedly homeschooled by the family.

Prosecutors highlighted Julie Miller’s deliberate neglect of her daughter’s basic needs, emphasizing that she knowingly failed to provide essential care. The sentencing for the case has been scheduled for February 25, 2026, at the Boone County Circuit Court in Morrisvale, West Virginia.
