Some Android users are facing a concerning issue where their devices are experiencing rapid battery drain even when not in use, following a recent software update. Reports have surfaced indicating that individuals are now having to charge their phones multiple times a day to maintain battery life.
The problem seems to be affecting Google’s range of Pixel phones, with the company acknowledging the issue and actively working on a solution. Impacted devices include the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A.
According to insights from 9to5Google, the battery drain problem is believed to be linked to continuous CPU wakeups, causing the phone to run in the background unnecessarily, even when idle. Users like Phil and Fz have shared their frustrations, experiencing sudden drops in battery levels, slow charging speeds, and overnight battery depletion post the software update in March.
However, not all Pixel users are encountering these issues, as some, like Warren, have reported normal battery performance. Google is actively investigating the matter and is expected to release an update to address the battery drain concerns. Further updates on this issue will be provided as they become available.
