A former police officer, Rebecca Sayegh, aged 32, confessed to breaking into her ex-boyfriend’s residence in April, sparking a chaotic incident involving a confrontation with her ex and his new partner. Sayegh used her baton to force entry into the house, where she engaged in a physical altercation with the couple, causing damage to property and the victim’s vehicle.
Following the disturbance, the new girlfriend sought refuge in the backyard and contacted the authorities. Sayegh resisted arrest and attempted to fight back against responding officers. Despite her resistance, law enforcement managed to subdue her and prevent further damage to the property.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office reported that Sayegh, a former Toms River Township Police Officer, was apprehended for her actions and incurred significant financial damages to the residence and the victim’s car. As a result of her guilty plea, Sayegh relinquished her position at the police department and any potential future public employment in New Jersey.
Sayegh is scheduled to be sentenced on January 26 of the upcoming year. This legal development follows Sayegh’s previous lawsuit against her former department and township, where she alleged gender discrimination and harassment as reasons for her guilty plea.
