A renowned theme park in Devon is gearing up to enhance its array of family-friendly offerings in 2026, as it announces the introduction of two new rides during the upcoming spring and summer seasons.
Crealy, situated in Clyst St Mary, Exeter, clinched accolades for Best Theme Park for Families (Small) and Best Theme Park for Toddlers (Small) for its Sooty Land experience at the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards.
The upcoming pair of attractions will complement the existing selection of over 60 rides and attractions at Crealy, which includes popular features like the Tidal Wave log flume and the unique Roman-themed Maximus Rollercoaster.
In the spring, the park will reveal Pirates’ Plummet, set to be the tallest drop tower adventure in the South West. Previously operating at Paultons Park in Hampshire as Magma, the attraction will now be reimagined in Devon with a pirate theme, promising thrills for guests measuring over 110cm tall. Youngsters and teenagers above 130cm can enjoy the ride unaccompanied, as reported by Devon Live.
As the summer approaches, Rotor will make its debut, touted as the first inverted attraction in the South West. This high-speed ride will twist and flip passengers, providing a gravity-defying experience.
While limited information is available about Rotor at this stage, preview images of the ride show participants securely seated. Crealy’s theme park has been a cherished family destination since its inception in the late 1980s.
In a statement, the park expressed its goal to “widen its appeal to older children while maintaining memorable experiences for all age groups.”
The park has introduced several new features in recent years, including the launch of Sooty Land in 2022, the UK’s initial theme park section dedicated entirely to the beloved children’s show, Sooty.
Sooty Land showcases The Sooty Show Live, where visitors can witness Sooty, Sweep, and their friends perform on stage in a show designed to captivate multiple generations.
Additionally, four Sooty-themed rides were added, such as Sweep’s Flying Circus and Izzy Wizzy Let’s Get Dizzy, along with opportunities for youngsters to meet and greet their favorite characters.
In 2012, the park introduced various on-site accommodation options, including lodges, glamping sites, and camping areas. Families can opt for stay-and-play packages that combine lodging with unlimited park access throughout their stay.
By staying at Crealy, visitors have convenient access to Exeter, where they can explore historical landmarks like Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, housed in a grand Victorian building. A short journey to the coast leads to the charming seaside town of Exmouth, featuring a beautiful sandy beach and traditional British seaside allure.
Exmouth also boasts the World of Country Life, a farm museum with indoor and outdoor attractions, as well as the delightful Exmouth Museum, offering insights into the rich history of South Devon.
