Terror police in Madrid utilized tasers and firearms on an 18-year-old assailant who allegedly stabbed three individuals during a frightening street assault.
The young suspect also reportedly attempted to assault law enforcement officers while reciting verses from the Quran.
The alarming incident occurred in the Puente de Vallecas district on Saturday, following which the suspect fled and barricaded himself in an apartment, leading to a standoff with the police.
He was subsequently transported to Gregorio Maranon Hospital in the Spanish capital, where he remained under police supervision. Witnesses reported that he had brandished a small two-inch knife.
One elderly woman sustained neck injuries, while two men, one with severe chest wounds, were also harmed.
According to reports, the suspect’s brother contacted the police, indicating that the suspect was inside the residence armed with a knife and behaving aggressively.
Authorities labeled the situation as an “Islamist terrorist incident” and dispatched specialized units to contain the situation.
The unidentified 18-year-old was subdued with tasers upon police entry to the apartment but was shot four times after he tried to attack the officers. A statement praised the officers for neutralizing the radicalized individual who had assaulted three others.
The victims of the stabbings received medical care, with none of the injuries described as life-threatening.
