Anthony Joshua has returned to England following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two individuals. The British heavyweight boxer arrived at London Stansted Airport on Friday evening and was then transported to his residence for further recovery, as reported by the Sun.
The funeral for Joshua’s friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, is scheduled to take place at a mosque in London. Family and friends have been invited to a ‘janaza prayer service’ in honor of the deceased pals.
Although Joshua is contemplating attending the funeral, concerns have been raised about the potential media frenzy his presence could attract.
Joshua narrowly escaped the fatal crash by switching seats just before the journey commenced, resulting in the tragic loss of his friends. The driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. His attorney stated that the incident was an accident, mentioning issues with the brakes.
Kayode, 46, was behind the wheel of a black Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua and his friends when the collision occurred with a parked truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. After being discharged from the hospital in Lagos, Kayode was moved to Abeokuta for further proceedings.
Following his hospital discharge, Joshua paid his respects to Ghami and Ayodele at a funeral home before their bodies were repatriated to the United Kingdom.
The legal proceedings for Adeniyi’s case have been adjourned until January 20 for trial.
