“Blind Woman Gouges Eyes, Finds Hope”

Date:

In a tragic incident outside a church, a young woman shouted six chilling words before gouging out her own eyes. Kaylee Muthart, who turns 28 today, lives with unwavering optimism despite being blind. She lost her vision at 20 during a meth-induced psychotic episode, believing it would bring her closer to God and save humanity.

Diagnosed with bipolar disorder, Kaylee’s descent into darkness began after consuming meth-laced drugs, leading to a harrowing breakup and mental breakdown. On the fateful day, under the influence of meth, she felt compelled to sacrifice her sight to avert a catastrophic event.

Blinded by her delusions, Kaylee, a Florida resident, mutilated herself near a church while shouting, “I want to see the light!” She was swiftly hospitalized, where surgeons removed her damaged eyes. Despite her ordeal, Kaylee, now a devout Christian, has displayed remarkable resilience. She attended a blind school, completed her high school education, and mastered skills like braille and communication technologies.

Reflecting on her journey, Kaylee ponders what her life could have been without the self-inflicted trauma. She remains hopeful that one day, with divine intervention, she may witness the world again. Embracing her prosthetic eyes, she sees her blindness as a shield against drug relapse, acknowledging that being blind is preferable to being enslaved by addiction.
