A man from Britain was discovered dead with gunshot injuries in St. Lucia on Tuesday. Identified as Kenrelle O’Flaherty, 26, he was found shot and killed late in the evening in Garrand, Babonneau, on the island’s North East coast.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force reported that the Babonneau station received information about a lifeless body along a roadway around 10:50 pm. Upon reaching the scene, authorities found O’Flaherty with evident gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the location.
O’Flaherty, originally from London and residing in nearby Anguilla, was believed to be on a brief visit to St. Lucia. The duration of his stay on the island before the shooting is unknown, prompting a murder investigation by the police.
A police insider urged individuals with any details to reach out to the major crimes unit, emphasizing the importance of understanding his purpose in the area and whom he was visiting. Limited information is available about the victim, except his British nationality and proximity to the neighboring island, necessitating an urgent inquiry.
In a separate incident, an elderly woman named Suzanne Rees, 80, was found deceased on Lizard Island in Queensland, Australia, after being left behind by a cruise ship. She was reported missing only after failing to show up for dinner, following her disappearance during an organized hike.
Coral Expeditions, operated by the National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA) in Australia, which manages the 60-day cruise, faced criticism from Ms. Rees’s family for what they termed a lack of care and common sense.
Mark Fifield, the CEO of Coral Expeditions, acknowledged the woman’s tragic discovery on Lizard Island, with a search and rescue operation being conducted by authorities. The company expressed deep regret over the incident and pledged full support to the bereaved family during this challenging period.
Coral Expeditions assured ongoing cooperation with Queensland Police and relevant agencies for a thorough investigation. Further comments on the matter were withheld pending the completion of the investigative process.
