Born in Grand Roy, Grenada, in July 1935, Francisco migrated to Trinidad and Tobago with his parents at a young age. Trinidad and Tobago, the birthplace of calypso music, shaped the persona of The Mighty Sparrow, leading to a string of hit songs in the genre, such as “Jean and Dinah,” “Both of Them,” “Congo Man,” “Mr. Walker,” and “The Lizard.”
