“Canadian and Japanese Golfers Join Presidents Cup Teams”

Date:

International team captain Geoff Ogilvy has selected two Canadian golfers, Corey Conners from Listowel, Ontario, and Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, British Columbia. Additionally, he included Ryo Hisatsune in the team, marking the first instance since 1998 that the International team features two Japanese players, with Hideki Matsuyama securing one of the six automatic spots.

In a recent announcement, Jackson Koivun was named to the U.S. team for the upcoming Presidents Cup, just three months after departing Auburn. Koivun, who clinched victory at the 3M Open in his third professional start and qualified for the PGA Tour postseason after only five tournaments, becomes the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2013 to commence a year without a tour card and compete in the Presidents Cup.

U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker also added Jacob Bridgeman to the team, who achieved a notable win at Riviera this year. Snedeker opted for Bridgeman over Ryan Gerard, despite Gerard’s strong performance at the Tour Championship, where he finished third.

The Presidents Cup is scheduled to take place from September 24-27 at Medinah, a course that has undergone a complete renovation by Ogilvy’s Australia-based golf course design company.
