“Fatal Collision Involving Bus, Truck, and Car Shocks Ireland”

Two drivers lost their lives and multiple people were injured in a severe collision involving a bus, truck, and car in Ireland today. The tragic incident occurred in Gormanston, Co Meath on the R132 this morning, with witnesses noting the presence of six ambulances, medical vehicles, and fire engines at the scene.

The bus driver, identified locally as Paul Conway, and the lorry driver, Wesley O’Reilly in his late 40s, were the two individuals who perished in the crash. The collision, which left at least 12 individuals injured, occurred on a bustling road.

Paul Conway, in his 50s, was driving the Route 101 bus when the accident happened. The Gormanston Community Association committee member, Peter Brady, highlighted the dangerous nature of the R132 road and expressed gratitude for the essential bus service provided by the 101 route.

Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan extended his sympathies to the victims, emphasizing the recent spate of tragic road accidents and urging caution on the roads. The R132 in Gormanston remained closed following the fatal crash.

Sinn Féin TD for Meath East, Darren O’Rourke, also conveyed his condolences to the victims and their families, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and the community’s need to support those affected. Gardaí are urging any witnesses to come forward with information or footage of the collision.

Bus Eireann, a prominent bus and coach operator in Ireland, confirmed the involvement of one of their Route 101 services in the collision and stated that emergency services were on-site. The crash, involving a bus, truck, and car, occurred early in the morning, leading to road closures as investigations continue.

Gardaí were seen at the collision site in Gormanston, with the road blocked off and local diversions in place. The tragedy resulted in the closure of the R132 and raised concerns of multiple casualties.
