George R.R. Martin recently shared an update with his followers through his blog, reflecting on a period he described as both challenging and rewarding, while also celebrating the nine Emmy nominations received by the HBO series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.” Known for his acclaimed fantasy series “Song of Ice and Fire,” which inspired the hit show “Game of Thrones,” Martin expressed gratitude for the achievements and hardships he has encountered this year, mentioning the mix of dreams coming true and nightmares.
Acknowledging a gap in his blog posts since February, Martin credited his team for keeping the blog updated and candidly discussed the emotional rollercoaster he has been on lately, including the loss of friends and battles with sadness and depression. At 77 years old, Martin remarked on the challenges of aging, emphasizing that it is not always enjoyable.
However, amidst the difficulties, Martin highlighted the positive moments he has experienced, particularly the excitement of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” earning nine Emmy nominations, with hopes of attending the ceremony in September. Notably, there was no mention in the blog post about the progress of the anticipated sixth book in the “Song of Ice and Fire” series, which has faced a 15-year delay. Addressing concerns about the delayed book, Martin admitted his struggles with meeting deadlines but expressed his discomfort with breaching contracts or missing deadlines.
