Armin Meiwes, a seemingly ordinary man to his neighbors, was harboring a dark and disturbing secret beneath his friendly exterior. The 42-year-old computer technician was a self-confessed cannibal who orchestrated a heinous act by luring a 43-year-old engineer named Bernd Brandes to a gruesome end, sparking a sensational trial in German legal history.
During his trial, Meiwes shockingly confessed that his morbid desires had been brewing within him for a long time, ultimately leading him to act upon them. Prosecutors revealed that Meiwes had harbored fantasies of killing and consuming someone since childhood, with these impulses intensifying following his mother’s passing in 1999.
In a chilling turn of events, Meiwes posted an online advertisement in March 2001 seeking a “young, well-built man willing to be eaten,” to which Brandes responded.
