A man who had been striving for eight years with his partner to conceive a child tragically passed away unexpectedly during a romantic trip with his pregnant fiancée.
Dean Potter, aged 34, and his partner Zoe Adams, 31, had chosen to celebrate their 11-year anniversary at Haven Caister-on-Sea holiday park in Norfolk in September 2025. The couple had recently received the happy news of Zoe being pregnant, a significant milestone after facing difficulties conceiving for nearly a decade.
Zoe recounted that Dean, a retail manager with no prior health concerns, appeared in good health until she was startled awake by a loud noise at 2 am on their last night at the holiday park.
Upon investigating, Zoe found Dean collapsed on the floor beside the caravan bed and immediately initiated CPR while calling for emergency assistance. Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, Dean tragically passed away on September 26, 2025. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that Dean suffered from left ventricular failure due to an undiscovered heart condition.
Zoe, who is a full-time caregiver for her mother in Norwich, described the trip as incredibly romantic and joyful, with much to celebrate. She expressed deep sorrow over Dean’s sudden demise, lamenting the fact that he would never get to meet their unborn child.
During their holiday from September 23 to 26, the couple enjoyed intimate dinners, romantic walks along the seaside, and attended nightly entertainment shows at the park. Zoe fondly recalled their shared moments and activities, emphasizing the happiness they experienced together.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on the night before their scheduled departure when Zoe woke up to find Dean in distress. Despite her quick response in performing CPR and seeking medical help, Dean’s condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his passing.
