LG TV owners are in for a treat this holiday season as LG has announced a significant upgrade to its LG Channels platform, offering a range of new features and additional free content, including programming from Sky. The recent update, now rolling out, enables users with select LG screens to enjoy Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault, and Sky Sports Classics without requiring a subscription. Furthermore, LG has included the Sky News channel in its free lineup.
In addition to these offerings, the update introduces more diverse content options such as LG1 Christmas for festive entertainment, the FIFA+ Women Channel for soccer enthusiasts, and the DP World Tour for golf fans. These new channels are part of LG Channels’ FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television) services, meaning viewers will encounter advertisements during broadcasts.
Beyond the channel expansions, the upgrade boasts enhancements like personalized content suggestions and a revamped user interface to facilitate quicker and easier content discovery. A new feature called “Quick Access” allows viewers to access channel information, the TV guide, favorites, and popular content instantly by pressing the “OK” button on the LG Magic Remote while watching a program.
Chris Jo, Head of the webOS Platform Business Centre at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, emphasized the goal of LG Channels to provide users with seamless access to engaging content. He highlighted the latest upgrade, from a new logo to improved personalization features, as a step towards making everyday viewing more intuitive and enjoyable for millions of users globally.
