A woman was targeted with an unidentified substance and subjected to racial harassment while on the London Underground, as confirmed by the police.
Authorities have shared a surveillance image of a man and a woman who may have valuable information regarding the assault that took place at Bond Street Underground station on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm when the woman, accompanied by her sister and two young children, one in a stroller, entered the station. A man and a woman were walking ahead of them, leading to a collision with the stroller.
Following the collision, the man verbally attacked the victim and her family with racial slurs, while the woman physically assaulted the woman by pulling her hair.
In an attempt to defend herself, the victim was confronted by the man who brandished a small container, claiming it contained pepper spray, which he then discharged towards the victim and her family. The woman accompanying the man also engaged in verbal abuse and indecent gestures towards the family before departing the scene, as reported by the British Transport Police.
Authorities are currently investigating the substance used in the attack, as there were no immediate adverse effects reported by the victim.
Police officers are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the man and woman depicted in the image, who could provide crucial details for the ongoing investigation.
