A 57-year-old man was swiftly taken to the hospital after being struck by a falling object at Piccadilly Circus in London.
Following the incident on Coventry Street around 2.27pm, an air ambulance was observed landing in Trafalgar Square today.
According to a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police, emergency services are addressing the situation in W1’s Coventry Street after receiving reports that a piece of masonry fell from a building, hitting the man. The man is currently being treated by the London Ambulance Service and will be transported to the hospital by London’s Air Ambulance shortly. The extent of his injuries is yet to be determined, and the incident is still ongoing. It is advised for people to steer clear of the area at this time.
A spokesperson from London’s Ambulance Service mentioned that they responded to a call at 2.27pm regarding an injured person in Coventry Street, London, W1. They dispatched various resources including ambulance crews, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic practitioner, and London’s air ambulance. The man received treatment at the scene before being taken to a major trauma center in London.
An eyewitness recounted to LBC that the object caused the man to fall, resulting in a severe head injury with significant bleeding.
The nature of the object that fell on the man is still unconfirmed.
Authorities have cordoned off the area following the incident.
