Terrifying video footage captured a building in Manhattan consumed by flames, with thick smoke emanating from the structure.
The New York City Fire Department swiftly responded to the incident, announcing a 3-alarm fire at 201 West 107th Street in Manhattan at 8:49 am. Shortly after, the fire escalated to a four-alarm situation.
Providing an update, the FDNY reported that they had brought the fire under control by 10:30 am and that fire marshals were investigating the cause.
Acting chief EMS, Paul Miano, confirmed that all three injuries resulting from the fire were minor. When pressed about the cause of the fire, FDNY’s chief of operations, Kevin Woods, stated that it was still under investigation.
Expressing gratitude for the prompt response, Paul Miano commended the efforts of the fire department and EMS personnel in handling the situation effectively.

During a news conference, a fire official described the building as a six-story non-fireproof structure with heavy damage to multiple units due to the intense fire on the top floor.
Council member Shaun Abreu, representing various neighborhoods in Manhattan, confirmed his office’s presence at the scene to assist those affected by the fire.
Residents were advised to steer clear of the area, as per an alert from NYC Notify, the city’s emergency notification system, warning of smoke and traffic delays in the vicinity.
