A prisoner from HMP Wandsworth, mistakenly released last Wednesday, is being sought by police as a manhunt unfolds. The Metropolitan Police were notified of Brahim Kaddour Cherif’s release, a 24-year-old registered sex offender, and swiftly dispatched officers to locate him. Cherif was convicted in November 2024 for indecent exposure in March of that year, receiving an 18-month community order and a five-year registration as a sex offender.
Authorities indicated that Cherif, an Algerian national, may have connections to Tower Hamlets and frequents the Westminster area. Commander Paul Trevers, heading the investigation, mentioned the urgency of the search, stating that despite a six-day head start, efforts are underway to pinpoint his whereabouts. The public’s assistance is encouraged in locating Cherif, with his image and arrest footage from September this year being made public.
Individuals are advised not to approach Cherif if spotted but to contact emergency services immediately at 999. Information on his movements can be shared with the police by calling 101.
