“NYPD Detective Dies After Cosmetic Surgery in Colombia”

Date:

A tragic incident occurred when Alicia Stone, a 40-year-old police detective and mother of three, passed away just a week after undergoing a buttock lift and liposuction procedure. Alicia, who was a member of the New York Police Department (NYPD), was discovered unresponsive in her hotel room and swiftly taken to Fundación Valle del Lili Hospital in Colombia.

Despite being admitted for medical care, Alicia, who had served for 13 years in the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau, was pronounced dead within an hour, according to sources. Her cause of death was stated as “unspecified cardiac arrest.” Following this sudden loss, Alicia’s husband, Michael, has urged for an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his wife’s untimely demise, expressing doubts about the situation.

Alicia had recently undergone a gluteal fat transfer and liposuction procedure before being hospitalized. She had been taking anticoagulants and pain medication, as detailed in the New York Daily News report. Michael recounted receiving a distressing call from the doctor in Colombia informing him of his wife’s passing. He expressed disbelief and sorrow, emphasizing that the sequence of events seemed inexplicable and painful.

Michael highlighted that Alicia had been in good health before the surgery, feeling well even the day prior to her tragic death. Desiring clarity on the events leading up to the loss of his wife, he emphasized the need for factual information. A fundraising campaign has been initiated to assist Alicia’s family, portraying her as a devoted mother and public servant who dedicated her career to safeguarding and aiding others, as reported by the Express.

Research findings from the Aesthetic Surgery Journal in 2017 suggested that buttock enhancement procedures could be significantly riskier compared to other cosmetic surgeries in the US. The global fatality rate following such procedures is estimated at 1 in 3,448 patients, much higher than the general US cosmetic surgery mortality rate of about 1 in 55,000.
