Vodafone Introduces New Service to Combat Scam Calls
The rise of unsolicited phone calls has become a common headache for smartphone users, with reports indicating that the average UK consumer faces around eight of these unwanted calls each month. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
To address this issue and enhance customer safety, Vodafone has unveiled a new solution called Scam Call Protection. This innovative feature utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and flag suspicious calls, including potential fraud, spam, scams, and nuisance calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, Scam Call Protection analyzes all incoming calls to users’ phones. When it identifies a suspicious call, customers receive a straightforward on-screen notification alerting them to the potential scam.
“Identifying scam calls has become more challenging, leaving individuals vulnerable to unexpected situations,” stated Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone. “With Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile, customers gain an additional layer of security by continuously monitoring calls and highlighting known and suspected scam calls. This enhancement reinforces our commitment to delivering comprehensive digital security features, empowering individuals to feel safer, more informed, and in control of their online activities.”
This new feature is integrated into Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to combat identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
Curious users can experience the service free of charge for three months, after which it is available for £2 per month.
