Bulgaria has been identified as the top destination for a cost-effective summer holiday for families this year. According to TravelSupermarket, which analyzed family holiday searches from October 5 last year to last week for trips between May and September 2026, Bulgaria offers the best value with an average cost of £760 per person for a week-long stay. Following Bulgaria are Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862.
Comparing prices across 13 popular destinations, Bulgaria saw a decrease of £54 per person (7%) since the previous summer, while Cyprus emerged as the most expensive destination at £1,186 per person. Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, ranked fourth with an average cost of £888 per person, remaining stable from 2025. Turkey and Greece followed at £1,057 and £1,096 respectively.
Croatia secured the 10th spot as the cheapest destination this summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person. The country experienced a 12% drop in prices compared to last year, making it more affordable for travelers. For long-haul trips, Cape Verde offered the best value at £1,247 per person, followed by the United Arab Emirates, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico.
Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, noted that Bulgaria is likely to regain its status as the preferred budget-friendly all-inclusive vacation spot. He also highlighted the continued affordability of Tunisia and Morocco, with Croatia witnessing a significant price reduction, making it a more attractive destination for families.
