There were reports of an incident involving an individual in a residential area at Fort Stewart in Georgia, prompting authorities to issue a lockdown and advise residents to remain indoors. The Hinesville Police Department confirmed the situation, with Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield announcing a shelter-in-place directive for the base due to an ongoing incident in the housing area. Law enforcement was present on the scene, urging individuals to stay inside.
After a brief period, the military base announced on social media that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted but cautioned people to avoid the Bryan Village area due to an ongoing situation. Fort Stewart officials later specified that the incident was confined to Ardennes Court on the base and involved a “solider in distress.” Law enforcement responded to the incident, which occurred around 4.38pm local time (9.38pm GMT), as reported by local outlet WTOC. It was clarified that there was no actual shooting incident.
