Becky faced issues when attempting to board a flight to Canada, as she was informed that her activities, which included chores in exchange for lodging with a host family, violated her travel authorization terms under ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).
Travelers from the UK, even those utilizing the ESTA visa-waiver program, may encounter increased scrutiny at the border. There are discussions about potentially requiring visitors to disclose five years of social media usernames and ten years of email addresses to enable security screenings for potential threats.
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) projected a substantial loss of $12.5 billion in international visitor spending in the U.S. for 2025. Among 184 countries analyzed, the USA was the only one to experience a decline in international spending last year, as per the organization’s findings.
